Morta's entire existence is destroyed when a scythe suddenly appears in her hands. Morta battles the unknown armed with poor choices, a future of guaranteed agony and some serious depression. Learning to live in the 9th Circle is not the same as the 3rd; adding misery into her cauldron of problems, especially with an ex mate who will never give her up and a new team who seems to be equally obsessively protective. She's shoved into a gilded cage, unable to see the light of day though her own insecurities and mistruths. Darkness creeps in to carry her to the very place she brings souls for salvation, yet a light, one that is not her own, refuses to let her seek freedom from the slavery she'll face for eternity. A fate her children are also sentenced to.
